Trousseau

This is a copy of the letter that I sent to Cassidy, I also sent one to courtney and Grace:

Dear Cassidy,
When I was a little girl my mother had the most beautiful hand made pillow cases in her cedar chest that I thought was so fun to look at. She also had hand embroidered dish towels that were made out of white flower sacks. Some of the sets had the days of the weeks on them, one dish towel for each day. She had a lot of pretty things and she called it her “trousseau”. I am not sure what the real meaning of trousseau is but in my mind it means “beautiful things that you get to use when you get married and have your own home.” When we were little girls we always thought about having a “trousseau” and my mother helped us start on our own trousseau when we were just little and we worked on it through out our teen age years until we got married. When I got married I had a nice trousseau, hand quilted quilts, hand embroidered pillow cases, and dish towels etc. my mother helped me do many of the things in there and I will always be grateful. I don’t think girls now days have a trousseau which I think is kind of sad so I decided to help you start a trousseau. Here are a pair of hot pads for you to use when you get married and have your own home. I took you to the store and let you choose your own yarn-and you kind of choose a wild color but keep in mind this is what you picked when you were 7 years old and you loved pink! Your mom can keep your hot pads in cedar chest until you get old enough to have a cedar chest of your own. Just think how fun it will be to have beautiful things that you get to use when you get married.
I love you,
Grandma

Hey there Sheila. It was so fun to check out your blog. Thanks for coming to mine. I'm excited to be able to keep up with your family. Funny we live 2 streets away but I never see you anymore. I miss you too.
